Wachirock has a fascinating family history stretching back more than 400 years!
Through the generations, a diverse range of activities have supported the family at Wachirock: saw milling, flour milling and farming. We continue to practice agriculture today, just as in the past. In 1932, Armand Collignon began the production of seed potatoes. His son Andre followed him, and some years ago now the tradition was passed to Andre’s son, Michel.
In 1967, the fishing lake was excavated and the restaurant & tavern gradually constructed. In 1983, in response to growing demand, we decided to provide camping facilities on the farm. The great leap was made, and we added to the restaurant and brasserie other services to ensure the comfort of holiday makers.
Since 2008, it has become the turn of Nathalie (the daughter of Andre & Arlette) & her husband Philippe to manage and grow the tourism activity at Wachirock. To that end, we installed a bigger and safer outdoor play area, and in 2010 renovated the restaurant & installed a new kitchen. It has been a busy time, but we have achieved in the new facilities an ambiance both calm & warm. |
